Mississauga-Brampton South MP Eve Adams was pleased to play a part in hosting Britain’s Prince William and his new wife Kate over the weekend in Ottawa.
Adams accompanied the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the first day of their Canadian visit last  Thursday as they attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial and again on Saturday as they honoured Canada’s veterans, Canadian Forces members and their families during a reception at the Canadian War Museum.
Adams, who attended the services in her official role as parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Veteran Affairs, said she was honoured to escort the royal couple “and to be in the company of some of our country’s truest heroes.
“Our service men and women — both past and present — were deeply touched by the warmth and generosity of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,” she said. “You could see the gratitude in their faces as the royal couple paid tribute to our nation’s long tradition of service and sacrifice.”
Adams helped the royal couple unveil an Augustus John painting that will be permanently on display in the museum. Prince William and Kate also toured the museum exhibits, taking in several displays that reflect the shared military history of Canada and the United Kingdom.
“Saturday’s reception reminded us of the great debt we owe to the men and women who serve our nations in times of need,” said Adams. “We will never forget their courage and their selfless contribution.”
